Pedal Tractor Pull Held at Shelby County Fair

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelby County Farm Bureau Young Farmers hosted an evening of fun and excitement on Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Shelby County 4-H & Jr. Fair.  The Young Farmers sponsored the annual pedal tractor pull contest for children ages 4-7 years old.

 Each participant was given a participation ribbon and prizes were awarded for first, second and third places in each age division.  The committee gave away a pedal tractor to one of the tractor pull participants at the conclusion of the pedal tractor pull.  The winner was Mady Wojcik, daughter of Dave and Candice Wojcik, Herrick. She was presented a John Deere pedal tractor by the Shelby County Young Farmers Committee.

Winners in the division for 4-year-olds were first place – Riley Durdel, son of Amy Durdel, Neoga; second place – Caden Shasteen, son of Nick & Jamie Shasteen, Shelbyville; third place – Myles Hammond, son of Jake & Brooke Hammond, Shelbyville.

 Winners in the division for 5-year-olds were first place – Wade Florey, son of Matt & Ashley Florey, Tower Hill; second place – Logan Stiner, son of Clint & Kasandra Stiner, Findlay; and third place – Brody Hancock, son of Brock Hancock, Shelbyville.

Winners in the division for 6-year-olds were first place – Braydon Ruff, son Debbie Ruff; Shelbyville; second place – Rory Stephens, son of Roger & Angela Stephens, Shelbyville; and third place – Mady Wojcik, daughter of Dave & Candice Wojcik, Herrick.

Winners in the division for 7-year-olds were first place – Riley Walden, son of Kent & Jenny Walden, Mode; second place – Reiss Frye, son of Cory Frye, Shelbyville; and third place – Elizabeth Weidner, daughter of Matthew & Jennifer Weidner, Teutopolis.

  The pedal tractor pull is an annual event at the Shelby County Fair.  This year 49 children participated.  The committee would like to thank Tom Cole, Windsor, for the use of the pedal tractor sled.  Thanks to all the parents, grandparents and spectators for cheering the little pedal pullers to the finish line.
