Senior Spotlights: Pizzo, Sanborn, King

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Alicia Pizzo

By Jessica Reider

Alicia is a very fun, outgoing, and sweet girl.  If you need someone to work out with she's willing to do anything.  If you need to talk to her, she's willing to listen and give her opinion.  Alicia has competed in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track each year of her high school career and hopes to run Cross Country in college. While in college her plans are to study nursing with the intention of being a pediatrics nurse, but hasn't chosen a college just yet.

In her free time, Alicia likes to run, hang out with friends, and cruise while listening to her favorite music, which may include her favorite singer Carrie Underwood or one of her favorite bands Staind, Shinedown, Hollywood of Undead, or Papa Roach.  Alicia's favorite summer memory is going to the beach with all of her friends, because her friends mean everything to her. Alicia was born and raised in Shelbyville and enjoys the small town atmosphere in addition to, the school sports, good friends, good churches, and the trails at the park.  Her favorite class would have to be choir, because Alicia loves to sing; however her favorite teacher is Mrs. Davis. Alicia's dream vacation is Italy, because her family roots trace back to there. Lastly, Alicia's a Christian and attends the Assembly of God church, she has been going for over a year; she has another church in Henton.

Cady Sanborn

By: Amber Rodman

Cady Lucille Sanborn is a senior at SHS and the daughter of Melissa and Brad Sanborn. After graduation, Cady plans to attend Lake Land College for 2 years before transferring to the University of Illinois for Speech Pathology in order to work with people who have a variety of speech-related disorders. This year Cady is taking the Health Occupations class in order to prepare her for a position in the health care field, fortunately it is her favorite class.

In regards to Shelbyville High School Cady says her favorite teacher is “Mrs. Tomlin.” Also the things she will miss the most upon graduation is seeing her friends, miss the familiarity, but most of all being carefree.

Lastly, some of Cady's favorites include heavy metal music, movie The Crow, and favorite TV show is 1,000 Ways to Die. Cady has two dogs and is not particular when it comes to color outside of pink and yellow. Cady likes hanging out with friends and taking random road trips.

Damion King

By: Zach Karraker

As foretold in the title, this exclusive senior spotlight includes the summary of an interview between me and Shelbyville High's very own Damion Michael King.  Damion is the son of Tracy and Michael King. Damion says “what he will miss most about high school is seeing his friends.”  Upon graduation Damion plans to work towards an electrician certificate through online classes, while serving in the military.  While in the military he wants to be an electrician.  If he is unable to be an electrician, he would very much like to work with explosives in the E.O.D (Explosive Ordnance Disposal).

Outside of school Damion enjoys hanging out with friends and cruising in his red Ford Explorer, which is as unique as its owner.  Although he currently drives an unleaded SUV, he is a firm believer in the diesel power.

Aside from cruising around in his sweet ride Damion also enjoys mudding, hanging out with his friends, as well as his family.  Some other favorites include:  Color; blue.  Food; spaghetti.  Music genre; country.  His favorite bands and singers include The Band Perry, Justin Moore, and Miranda Lambert. Some of the places he wishes to travel in the future include Mt. Everest, the Rio de Janeiro statue, Moscow's mosque, Niagara Falls, Death Valley, the Amazon River, as well as the Bahamas.
