Windsor High School cheerleaders are headed back to the IHSA State Championships in Bloomington on Friday by virtue of their performance today, Saturday, January 29.
Windsor competed at the Highland Sectional Small Team 16-Team Competition today in stunts, cheers, dance. At the end of the competition, the top five teams would advance from sectional to state. St. Anthony placed fifth, Bunker Hill placed fourth, then came the announcement for third.
"How 'bout that team from Windsor!" the announcer said, and they presented the Blue Devils with their 3rd place trophy. Paris placed second and Kincaid South Fork placed first at the Highland Sectional.
Windsor competed against 16 other schools, those other advancing teams mentioned previously, as well as: Bethany Okaw Valley, Sullivan, Pana, Vandalia, Franklin, Piasa, Cerro Gordo, Raymond Lincolnwood, Waverly, Winchester and Oblong.
Windsor and the other advancing teams will compete Friday, February 5 at Redbird Arena. If they place in the top ten, they will advance to Saturday's competition.
The Blue Devils are coached by Beth Williamson, assisted by Kim Bullock.
