Shelbyville 7th Wins 4th In A Row

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelbyville 7th basketball must be ahead of the curve as they have run their record to 11-4, including a 4-game winning streak. They beat Altamont on Monday, 49-37, prior to Altamont 8th beating Ram 8th, 59-34.

Tylr Gottfriedt had a season-high 20 points for Ram 7th in the 12-point win. He scored eight times from the floor, including a 3-pointer and was 3-of-6 at the stripe. Turner Pullen and Cade Watson were also in double figures. Pullen had 11, making 3-of-4 at the line, and Watson had 10 points.

Shelby broke open an 8-8 tie game in the 2nd with a 17-8 run. Mason Cameron and Gottfriedt scored twice each in the 1st. In the 2nd Gottfriedt scored four times and made a free throw to personally out-score Altamont 9-8 in the period. Pullen scored twice and Quinn Martz and Watson had buckets. Watson added a free throw for the 9-point lead at the break, 25-16.

The game returned to a more even contest in the 3rd and 4th, but the 9-point margin held up. Altamont trimmed the lead to eight to start the 4th, but the Rams pushed the lead back up to 12 points down the stretch.

Pullen led Shelby in the 3rd with four points from the floor, while Gottfriedt had a basket and two free throws and Watson had a bucket and a free throw. In the 4th, Pullen made 3-of-4 foul shots, Watson scored twice and made a free throw. Daythan Summers  scored and Gottfriedt punctuated  his performance with a final dagger, a 3-pointer.
