SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
After low production on Friday night in a loss at Stew-Stras, the Cowden-Herrick Hornets sharpened their stingers and got right back at it Saturday. They played Ramsey for the third time this season and had no trouble skinning the Rams, 57-31.
The Hornets opened up the game with a 16-7 run. They followed with an 11-5 run in the 2nd to lead by 15 at the break, 27-12. Ramsey asserted themselves in the 3rd, but the best they could do was just compete. Cowden-Herrick still led by 17 heading into the 4th, 40-23.
Ramsey had given the Hornets their best shot in the 3rd, so down the stretch the Hornets finished with a flurry, a 17-8 run, pushing the margin of victory to 26 points by the final bell.
Senior 1000-point scorer Luke Moore led C-H with 19 points and 14 rebounds, recording another double-double. He also led the Hornet defense with four steals and a blocked shot. Tyson Morgason joined Moore in double figures, scoring 10 points and grabbing three boards.
The Hornets out-rebounded Ramsey, grabbing 27 boards. They committed 16 turnovers, but offset that with 12 steals.
