SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
After suffering a tough 2-point loss on Saturday at the Highland Tournament, the state-ranked CHBC Hornets swarmed Troy Triad on Monday in a 44-point win, 57-13.
Micah Jones led the Hornets again with 23 points, scoring 11 times from the floor. A cadre of teammates followed in balanced scoring. Autumn Riley scored nine, Kacie Hilt had seven, Chandler Ward had seven and Ava Paruleski had six with a pair of 3-pointers. Ashley Miller scored the other CHBC triple.
CHBC was still not stellar at the line, something that cost them in their Saturday loss. CHBC was just 6-of-14 (43%) on Monday.
CHBC struck early with a15-2 run, then mitigated their assault against a defenseless opponent. The extended their lead to 22 points by the break, 29-7. Even with their foot on the brakes, the Hornet power train still drove a 13-2 run in the 3rd to up the CHBC lead to 33 points, 42-9. The Hornet momentum kept pushing Triad off the cliff with a final 15-4 run in the 4th extending the margin to 44 points.
CHBC (12-5) plays Salem in the Highland Tourney on Wednesday night at 5 p.m.
