Raiders Withstand Tuscola Runs

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Central A&M boys survived a couple of Tuscola runs and improved their standing in the conference with a 65-60 win.

The Raiders ran out to a 16-10 lead in the 1st 8:00, but Tuscola answered with a 21-15 run and knotted the score at the break, 31-31. A&M launched a 15-5 run out of the locker room and took a 10-point lead heading into the 4th period, 46-36.

A&M had to brace for another Tuscola charge down the stretch and they were able to withstand it. Tuscola put up a 24-point outburst in just 8:00. A&M tried to run alongside and scored 19 points. It was enough to hold on for the win despite the bullets flying by.

Tuscola used the 3-point line to try to upset the Raiders. They connected seven times, compared to the Raiders four, for a 9-point advantage. However, their ouside shooting did not translate to free throws.

Tuscola only shot 5-of-7 at the line, while the Raiders got to the line for 29 shots and made 17 (58%). It was enough for a 12-point advantage and erased the Tuscola edge from the arc.

Spencer Garner had a game-high 23 points for the Raiders. Garner recorded a trey hat trick, scored five more times in close and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the line. Alex Snyder followed with 18 points
