SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Tuscola came to Shelbyville on Monday and doubled-up the Lady Rams, 47-23.
The Rams look to make progress, but injuries compromise that, losing post player Jami Hennings, then the leading scorer from their previous game (19 points) sophomore Madison Boone. That left the Rams with limited scoring options and they scored just 23 points.
Meanwhile, Tuscola started the game without their all-state leader, Weaver. Tuscola still led 12-5 at the end of the 1st, when Weaver entered the game. Weaver scored four times before half, leading a 17-2 Warrior run. Tuscola led by 22 points at the half, 29-7.
The Rams got just one bucket from center Lindsay Burton in the 1st and 1-of-2 foul shooting. Courtney Schultz got the only other bucket. Tuscola led 4-0, when Schultz ran a back cut and rolled out to the wing for a jumper. Burton was fouled on the next possession and split a pair for just a 4-3 Tuscola lead.
Tuscola had a 6-0 run, before Burton scored on the block with a minute left in the 1st. Tuscola answered and Shelby missed two free throws to end the 1st.
In the 3rd the Rams did better, being outscored just 10-9. Weaver scored six points and Miller four. Four Rams scored. Schultz nailed a 3-pointer, Bri Ruff scored, Lindsay Floyd scored and Burton scored again.
Down 39-16 to start the 4th, the Rams could do no better. Grace Schuler (Stew-Stras) scored, Floyd (Windsor) scored again, Olivia Williamson (Windsor) got on the board and Burton (Stew-Stras) added a free throw. All the Rams scorers in the 4th were co-op players.
Miller led the Warriors late, with two more scores, in an 8-7 run to win by 24.
Shelbyville heads into the Bement Tourney this weekend.
