Jr. Rams Rock 'N Roll At Regional
Seven Rams Claim Regional Championships
Shelbyville Jr. Ram Wrestling took 19 wrestlers to the IKWF Central Regional held in Mattoon tournament last weekend and brought home the Novice Team title and seven individual regional championships.
Jr. Rams took 19 wrestlers to the regional: 7 Bantam (8 Years Old and Under); 2 Intermediate (9/10 year olds); 9 Novice (11/12 year olds); 1 Senior (13/14 year olds).
The Novice wrestlers took 1st place as a team, including Jared Finley, Adam Hudson, Lucas Duckett, Garrett Brachbill, Keiffer Johnston, Daric Austin, Cody Riley, Matthew Tinsman, and Dalten Fox.
Regional Champs were Novices Garrett Brachbill, Adam Hudson, Lucas Duckett, Keiffer Johnston, and Jared Finley, and Bantams Lucas Brown, Quinn Stewart.
Only wrestlers ages 9 and up that placed in the top four of their bracket were eligible to advance to the sectional tournament to be held next Saturday, March 6th. Shelbyville has 9 wrestlers advancing: Cody Riley, Daric Austin, Garrett Brachbill, Matthew Tinsman, Adam Hudson, Lucas Duckett, Jared Finley, Keiffer Johnston and PJ Riley.
The Novice and Senior wrestlers that place in the top three next week will move on to the IKWF State Tournament in Rockford to be held March 11-13.

Ram Golf Struggles, Then Improves
After a decent start to the season in their first two outings, the Rams stumbled at Meadowview Golf Course in Mattoon on Wednesday, losing to Mattoon and Windsor both. Shelby shot 197, while Windsor carded a 187, reversing their loss to Shelby the day before at Pana. Mattoon beat both opponents with a sizzling 165. On Thursday, the Rams improved by 18 strokes (179), but still lost to Arcola-Arthur (167), Meridian (170), and Sullivan (171) in a quad match at Moweaqua where the four teams were separated by just 12 strokes.
