Okaw Valley Bows Out At Mt. Pulaski

JOHN CURTIS - Daily Union Sports Editor

Okaw Valley 8th grade volleyball ended their season at the Mt. Pulaski 8-2A Regional on Tuesday night, losing to Cerro Gordo, 6-25, 14-25.

Cerro Gordo descended on the Okaw Valley 8th grade T'wolves on Tuesday night at the Mt. Pulaski Regional. The T'Wolves only managed six points in the first game, but were able to more than double that before they bowed out of the season.

"Unfortunately, it was the team's last game," said Coach Ruth-Anne Yang. "They had a tough season, but pulled through with a better second game. The team will have to look forward playing in high school. This season has been preparing them what's to come. Through it all, we all had a lot of fun."

The Okaw 8th lived and died with 8th grade players in this match, unlike other 8th grade teams that played on Tuesday, even though the 7th graders had a better season and were available. Shelby Dash led at the line with four points and added the team's only block, Fancie Lewis dished out four assists, and Mollee Decesaro dished out three. Payton Prahl and Addie Kesterson led at the net with two kills each.

As a team, Okaw finished with seven assists leading to their eight kills.
