Pana got deeper into the Litchfield tournament on Tuesday, unbeaten, pulling away from Roxana, 54-44.
Roxana matched Pana in the first period, 14-14, and held a 2-point lead at the break, 26-24. But the tide change came at half-time. The Panthers roared out of the locker room and put on a 16-7 run in the third to lead by seven heading into crunch time. Pana's defense held the upper hand and allowed their offenseto increase their lead at the final bell to double-digits.
Derek Ade led the Panthers with 21 points, including a quartet of treys and 3-of-4 at the line. Phillip Arnold followed in double-digits with ten points, including a pair of shots from downtown. Jake Adcock turned in a solid performance in the paint, scoring eight points.
Roxy had the game-high scorer in Peine with 24 points, but their second scorer had just nine points and no one to match Adock's eight points as the third scorer. Pana also was throwing daggers from the arc, knocking down six treys to Roxy's solo triple.
Pana finishes pool play on Friday, followed by the Litchfield tourney playoff round.
