SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Shelbyville Moulton 8th grade basketball has been up and down this season, but they started the postseason up, with a win over St. Elmo in the Pana 7-3A Regional, 33-23.
St. Elmo jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the 1st. Shelby’s Hunter Plummer hit a trey and Grant Sims had a deuce, but St. Elmo had two 3-point plays and a another two from their leader Feezel.
The Rams got a couple of solo treys from Keaton Plummer and Lyle Jefson, while St. Elmo got two buckets from Austin and a free throw from Sperry. St. Elmo still led by four at the break, 15-11.
Ram defense got them the led in the 3rd. They held St. Elmo scoreless, while the Rams got a deuce from Keaton, from Jackson Gambrill, and a free throw from Hunter, 16-15 Rams.
In crunch time, the Rams opened up a can of whoop-em, going on a 17-8 run in just 6:00. Sims scored twice, Justin Hopper and Keaton scored once, each. They got the rest from the line. Keaton had two free throws, Hopper had two and Dillon Birch was 4-of-4.
Shelbyville was to advance to the semifinal on Monday against Pana.
