SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
CHBC basketball swarmed into Tuscola and stung the Warriors by 30 points, winning 73-40.
The CHBC match-up against Tuscola looked to be a good one on paper, but CHBC threw that paper in the trash, as four Hornets scored in double figures, made 11 more field goals than the Warriors, and shot an impressive 11-of-12 at the line.
CHBC had a modest 13-11 lead after one, hinting at a close contest. Then in the 2nd the Hornets swarmed with a 21-10 run for a 13-point lead, 34-21. The Hornets sent the Warriors into anaphylactic shock after the break, stinging them with a, 23-12, run for a 24-point lead as the fat lady sang prior to the 4th period. CHBC doubled up Tuscola down the stretch, 16-8, to extend their lead to a runaway 33-point margin.
Micah Jones led CHBC with 25 points, scoring 10 times from the field and canning 5-of-6 free throws. Ava Paruleski continued to light it up from the arc, scoring 15 points with a trey hat trick and 2-of-2 at the line. Out of nowhere, sophomore Jensyn Morrison had her high-point game for the season, scoring 14 points on seven buckets. Autumn Riley was the fourth Hornets in double figures, scoring 11 points, including a triple and a perfect 4-of-4 at the line. Riley, Jones, and Paruleski accounted for their 11-of-12 foul shooting.
CHBC (17-5) was to play Monday night at Beecher City on Senior Night against Brownstown.
