SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
The Daily Union Athletes of the Week, Kendall Knop, Kelsie Walden, and Madison Boone, put up huge numbers.
Kendall Knop led the Comets to a win over Cowden-Herrick with a big double-double. She led at the net with 14 kills and led the mid-court defense with an amazing 26 digs. She also co-led the Comets at the line with five aces.
She followed that up with 7 aces, 20 digs v. Brownstown in 2 games.
The Comet court quarterback, setter Kelsie Walden put up a 30-assist performance, one of the most in one match this season for the entire Shelby Area.
She followed that up 19 assists in a 2-game set with Brownstown.
Sophomore Madison Boone led a Ram block party v. Monticello. She recorded 6 blocks in one match and also had 3 kills for 9 net points.
Kendall Knop is the daughter of Kyle and Michell Knop of Strasburg.
Kelsie Walden is the daughter of Kent and Jenny Walden of Mode.
Madison Boone is the daughter of Pat and Connie Boone of Shelbyville.

Solid Shelby State Prelims
High schools from over the state of Illinois made their way down for the first day of the girls state track meet at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
Defending class 1A champion Central A&M sent 12 total athletes to the meet this season, and started this years’ girls track meet off well by winning 6 events individually and 1 team race.
