Lady Rams Score 40, Lose To W-L

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelbyville girls basketball did something they've had a hard time doing this season, score 40 points against a good team. On the road in Warrensburg, Thursday, they did just that, despite losing, 60-40.

The Lady Rams boasted two, almost three, players in double figures, another rarity. Guard Courtney Schultz led the Rams for first time all season. She scored 11 points, including a pair of treys, and had three steals. Madison Boone followed with 10 points, including 4-of-8 at the line. She also had five boards.

Ram scoring leader Lindsay Burton scored nine points, but also led the Rams with 13 rebounds. Olivia Williamson was also in the mix with seven points.

They were no match for the Cardinals early, but still trailed by just seven after one, 12-5. Schultz and Williamson scored from the floor and Burton split a pair at the line. Swallow led W-L with two triples and a free throw for 7 of their 12 points.

Warrensburg ratcheted up their offense in the2nd and scored 19, but The Rams did, too, scoring in double-digits. Schultz sank a triple and then a deuce. Boone scored twice and Williamson got to the line making 2-of-2 foul shots.

But W-L got three scores from Spence, two from Peters and two from Foster, plus a free throw. W-L led by 15 at the break, 31-16.

In the 3rd, the Cards scattered seven field goals among six players, while the Rams got to the line. Burton scored and then made 3-of-4 foul shots. Boone split a pair and Williamson scored from the floor. W-L extended their lead to 21 points through three periods, 45-24.

The Rams were still under 30 points in the game, but they got busy in the 4th and out-scored Monty, 17-15. Shelby used the foul line to pad their score. They earned 16 foul shots in the 4th, making seven.

Boone earned six foul shots and made three, plus a bucket. Burton had three foul shots, making one, and a bucket. Schultz made 1-of-2 foul shots, then sank another 3-pointer. Lindsay Floyd split a pair at the line. Williamson gto three foul shots and made one. Bri Ruff capped the scoring with a 3-pointer.

W-L finished with six more field goals and making 3-of-11 at the line. W-L only made 5-of-16 foul shots. Shelby made 14-of-28. Both teams had a trio of treys.
