SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
On Thursday, the Shelbyville wrestling team traveled to Auburn and notched yet another dual victory, 45-18. The Rams are now 19-4 in duals this season.
The Rams won 10 of the 14 weight classes and only two of their wins by forfeit. In real-time competition, the Rams still beat Auburn, 33-18. Two of the Rams won by sticking their opponents.
Adam Hudson (145) beat Evan Patterson by pin just a half-minute into the 3rd period (4:33). Heavyweight Andrew Mudgette (285) also stuck his foe, Austin Peterson, in the 3rd period, ending the marathon in 5:15.
Three of the Rams won by major decisions. Wyatt Fox (138) beat Austin McKinnon by a score of 11-3. Mitch Barna, wrestling 195 beat Carson Root by major decision, 14-4. Elliott Smithson (220) notched the third major decision, beating Austin Travois, 16-6.
Jared Finley (132) and Jordan Johnston (152) both scored wins by decision. Finley almost shut out Randal Domsecik, 6-1. Johnston won a tighter match over Jesse Kessler, 4-2.
Josh Hicks (170) and Mike Ulrich (182) picked up wins by forfeit.
Auburn did manage one pin, one tech fall, one major decision and one decision in their dual loss.
