SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Shelbyville golf cashed in on their turn-around season (19-13) by advancing out of the Angus Links Regional on Tuesday and earn a berth in the Watseka Sectional on Monday at Shewami Country Club.
Casey-Westfield won the regional with a score of 342. St. Teresa placed 2nd at 351. Shelbyville placed 3rd with 367, besting medalist Hunter York and his Decatur Lutheran team along with eight other teams.
Okaw Valley was 5th (393), Sullivan was 6th (393), Meridian was 7th (396), Marshall was 8th (402), Windsor/Stew-Stras was 9th (418), Oakland was 10th (422).
Cumberland was 11th (429) and Arcola was 12th (457).
Hunter York, a former Central Illinois Junior Golf Tour star, earned medalist honors with a sizzling 18-hole score of just 75 strokes.
The next two finishers were from Casey, Chris Lee (76) and Brandon Glidwell (78). St. Teresa's best was Jordan Laukaitis (78), followed by another former CIJGT star, Donovan Resch (81).
Shelbyville was led by their #1 Garrett Manship.
, also with an #81. Cade Saddoris followed with a 91, Tyler Schanks shot 97 and Brett Peifer was the fourth scorer with a 98.

Shelby Area Athletes Advance to Finals
Athletes from all over the state of Illinois showed up to Eastern Illinois University for the IHSA Class A Boys State Track Meet preliminaries on Thursday. The Shelby Area sent a cadre of 11 different athletes on to Saturday's state finals.

Shayla Darnell of Shelbyville won the IESA 7AA Girls State High Jump Championship, clearing 5-0, to lead Shelby Area athletes at the meet last weekend in East Peoria. Adam Miller of Pana and Luke Bowman of Sullivan also won IESA State Championships.

High schools from over the state of Illinois made their way down for the first day of the girls state track meet at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
Defending class 1A champion Central A&M sent 12 total athletes to the meet this season, and started this years’ girls track meet off well by winning 6 events individually and 1 team race.
