Rams Can't Keep Pace With Bulldogs

Shelbyville went to St. Teresa on Tuesday and the Rams were herded by the Bulldogs, 64-38.

The Bulldogs had little mercyon the rams, stampeding the herd on a 12-2 run out of the gate. Shelby got some tracion in the second, but St. T still outpaced them 19-11 to take a prohibitive18-point lead at the break, 31-13. The Rams almost kept up with St. T in the third, but still found themselves down 22 points heading into the fourth period trailing, 48-26. The Rams never could trim the St. T lead, slipping to a 26-point deficit at the buzzer.

Dustyn Fatheree had the only Ram basket in the first period St. T 12-2 rout. Cody Boarman made 2-of-4 free throws in the second period and sank a 3-pointer to help the Rams get some points. Cody Langan, Levi Pruemer and Fatheree added solo twos, but they were still down 31-13 at the half.

In third period, Boarman led the Ram sagain with a deuce, 1-of-2 at the line, and a trey. Three more field goals was all the Rams could get in the period, solo twos from Langan and Fatheree and a trey from Caine Cloe, who finally got on the board. Down by 22 points heading into the fourth, the Rams made their most field goals in a quarter, but still scored just 12 points. Cloe had two scores, Pruemer had two scores, Nate Standerfer got on the board with a two and Fatheree had a two.

Boarman led the Rams with 11 points, but didn't score in the final 8:00. He was followed by Dustyn Fatheree, who got eight points. The rest of the Rams had star-step down totals. Cloe had seven points, Pruemer six, Langan four and Standerfer two. The Rams were out-rebounded 21 to 18 and were out-shot at the line 6-of-11 to 3-of-8.

Shelbyville hosts Tolono on Friday for Sr. Night, while St. T (24-1, 10-0 Okaw) hosts Meridian on Friday for their Sr. Night. Shelbyville then hosts Teutopolis in the first game of the Shelbyville 2A Regional on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
