Cowden-Herrick Junior High volleyball got a 2-game blowout over Sacred Heart in the 7th grade match on Tuesday, 25-11, 25-6, while the 8th grade match went to Sacred Heart in 3, 11-25, 25-23, 15-25.
Cowden-\Herrick 7th stayed undefeated in the conference on Tuesday when they outscored Sacred Heart 50 to 17 in a too-quick, 2-game set, 25-11, 25-6.
Jensyn Morrison was a double-digit performer in the match with a team-high 12 points and a team-high 7 assists. She was followed at the line by Hannah Wehrle with nine points and a team-high four aces. Bethany Hadley and Chloe Meek led at the net with two kills each.
As a team, the Hornets served up for 37 actual points with 10 aces. They swung for six kills.
"We will be getting ready for our games against Windsor on Thursday, "said C-H coach Angela Jefferies. "After that, we find ourselves refininf our skills for the upcoming regionals.

The Hornet 8th were stung pretty good in game 1, then came back to win a close game 2 and force a game 3. But they got stung pretty good in the rubber game, as well.
Ariel Heiserman led a balanced attack at the line with six points, two aces. Ashley Davis had five points, two aces, Bailey Rueff served five points, Haven Lorton served four and Ashley Miller four. Lorton also led on defense with four digs and at the net with a team-high three kills.

Shelbyville Rams and the Central A&M Raiders are county and Okaw Valley Conference rivals that have about the same level of talent yearin, year-out. Still, the Raiders have a way of tipping the scales in their favor. Tuesday night was another example, as the Raiders won, 52-44.

Okaw Bows To Broncos In Regional
Okaw Valley had to finish out the season witout their leading scorer Sarah Burch. They entered Arcola 1A Regional on Monday night against Cerro Gordo and challenged the Broncos in three of the four quarters. That quarter hastened their exit from the season, 39-24.

Shelby Bows Out With Strong Finish
The Shelbyville Lady Rams lost to Tolono by 17 points recently in conference play. They had a shot at revenge in the opening round of the Meridian 2A Regional on Monday night and matched Tolono stride for stride in three of the four quarters, and cut the margin of defeat in half from the first meeting. Still, the Rams bowed out of the season with a 46-38 loss.

Pana basketball (19-2) won two more games in the SCC conference this week, beating Vandalia, 65-60, on Tuesday, then beating Hillsboro on Friday, 76-53.

Ram Wrestling Advances 9 To Sectional
Ram wrestling got a good start to the postseason on Saturday at the Argenta 1A Regional, advancing 9 of their 12 participants on to sectional. The Rams took third place at regional with 138 points. Four Rams placed 2nd, four Rams placed 3rd, and one Ram placed 4th.

Senior discus and shot put thrower Janie Howse and her parents, Jim and Jean Ann Howse of Assumption, opened their sweatshirts to reveal T-shirts with Janie’s choice of college on Wednesday at her official signing at Central A&M High School. The winner of the Howse lottery is Division-i Eastern Illinois University.
