Shelbyville Steps On Shoes

Rams Handle Opening Regional Match

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelbyville volleyball defended their home court to open Shelbyville 2A Regional play on Monday night, handling Teutopolis, 25-16, 25-14.

The Lady Rams opneed the match with Taylor Wilcox serving six straight points, including two early kills by Brandy Smith, and forcing an early T'town time-out.

Madison Boone killed off a block to putShleby up 7-1 ans Smith delivered an ace to go 9-2. Brooke Eisenbarth rocketed a shot across the net and the Shoe di ricocheted a free ball to the net were Boone could slam it to the floor,10-3.

Eisenbarth sizzled another kill on the back line to fuel another 5-point Ram run. Lindsey Eigsti kept serving as Wilcox killed through a block, Eisenbarth tipped a point, and then followed with a BK Whopper to the corner. Teutopolis had to call their second time-out, down 15-4.

At 16-6, the resilient Shoes had their own 5-point run, bringing a Ram time-out. Wilcox broke the run with a tip and Smith swung for a kill for a 19-11 lead.

Back and forth inched the Rams closer to winning game 1. At 23-16, Eisenbarth sent another BK Special missile down the line. Eigsti served game point and Teutopolis hit it out.

After the Ram dominance in game 1, game to began as a closer affair. The two teams tied at 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, and 5-5.

Sammy Hendrix served a short aceto break the tie. Hendrix served a 7-point run. Eisenbarth had a free kill and Hendrix served another short ace for an 11-5 lead, forcing a Shoe time-out.

Eisenbarth blasted a kill cross-court and gave Eigsti the ball at the line again. Eisenbarth killed again, then Wilcox blew the ball through a Shoe block.

At 15-8, Wilcox had a lefty tip tha fooled the Shoes. Wilcox got the serve at 17-10 and Boone had another block. After a Shoe tip miss, they had to call time again, 20-10.

Back and forth point for point brought the cliff closer to the Shoes andtheRams to the win.

At 23-14, Eisenbarth rocketed a kill again. On match point, Wilcox delivered an ace that ricocheted into the crowd, 25-14.

Shelbyville (20-16) must now defend their home court against higher seeded Pana on Tuesday night.
