Windsor 8th grade volleyball was on an impressive run claiming a regional championship with just a 5-15 season record. But, all that came to an end on Monday night when they had to face the reigning, undefeated, state champions. Windsor's Cinderella glass slipper was crushed as they lost to Grayville, 25-10, 25-9.
Windsor 8th, even with the help of their 7th grade talent, was no match for Grayville. Grayville was undefeated last year and won the 7-1A State title (23-0). Grayville went after the Torjans with extreme prejudice, the way they did in last year's sectional against a top-notch Stew-Stras team (22-2).
Despite that, Paige Woolard (7th) was able to lead Windsor with a team-high three kills, a co-leading five digs and the only Windsor block. Olivia Williamson (8th) set the only Ram assist, added one of the six Trojan kills, and dug four balls. Bayleigh Tabor (7th) also co-led the team in mid-court defense with five digs. Olivia Hortenstine (7th) also had three digs of Windsor's 17 team digs and one of their kills.
By beating Windsor Grayville earned a return trip to 1A State with a record of 22-0, giving them a 2-year record to this point of 45-0.
