SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Forest Park is lit up once again with holiday colors as the annual Festival of Lights opened this weekend.
The event, which has been a holiday staple for Shelbyville, attracts visitors from all over Central Illinois.
“We’ve got it (the Park) filled,” said committee chairman Tad Mayhall. “The high school kids helped set up displays and are continuing to make Christmas trees and presents similar to those in the park for people.”
Mayhall added that the committee has been asked to put lights up on the road over the dam and leading to Forest Park.
“That’s something we’ll definitely have on the schedule for next year,” Mayhall said.
Volunteers to take donations are still needed for a few of the nights during the Festival. Please call Nathan Nichols, 454-9498, to volunteer.
