Fireworks Still On Despite Dry Conditions

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — The Greater Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce has been given the green light to proceed with the 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza at Forest Park this Wednesday.

A meeting was held on Saturday morning at the launch site with representatives from the Corps of Engineers, Shelbyville Fire Department, Jamaica Pyrotechnics Inc., and the Chamber present.  After careful deliberation and planning, and on the recommendation of the representatives, the Greater Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce has decided to proceed with the 4th of July Fireworks display.

A “red flag” advisory due to the extreme heat, wind, and dry conditions could still cause the event to be rescheduled.  Be sure to check the area news sources and the Chamber’s website www.shelbyvillechamberofcommerce.com or Facebook page at www.facebook.com/shelbyville.chamber for updated information.

Activities will begin in Forest Park with Lilly’s Concessions and Dairy Queen selling their refreshments at 4:00 p.m. until the fireworks begin.  Bring your lawn chairs to enjoy Wes Wheeler’s Battle Creek Band stationed in the shade, near the Scout Cabin, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Fireworks will begin at dusk.
