SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
The Angel of Love Christmans Program will hold registrations on Saturdays September 8 and September 29 from 9-11 a.m. at the Shelbyville Senior Center, Stewardson Community Building, and Cowden Community Building.
Parents interested in having their children’s names in the program should come to one of these locations to sign up the child. All names are kept confidential.
“We are doing registration dates so that we may get an early start on the project. There is a lot of organizing work involved,” said chairman Tiffany Daniel.
The Angel of Love program assists qualifying families with gifts for the children. Children’s wish lists and information are placed on tags on trees in businesses throughout the area. People may pick up a tag, fill the wish list, and return the gifts with the tag to the tree for pickup and distribution. Names are not included on the tags
The Angel of Love program serves families in Cowden, Herrick, Oconee, Stewardson, Strasburg, Shelbyville, and parts of Neoga and Beecher City. Windsor, Findlay, Moweaqua and Tower Hill have their own similar programs.
“There is a growing need and we look to the generosity of the communities to ensure that these children have gifts to open for Christmas,” said Daniel.
“We encourage people to please visit our FaceBook page (facebook.com/angelofloveshelbyville) and click ‘like’. You will get updated information about the program,” Daniel said.
Tags will be available in businesses throughout the county in November. Gifts will need to be returned to those businesses in early December to be ready for the mid-December distribution.
Any businesses or individuals interested in helping with the program may call the First Assembly of God at 774-3277.
Donations to the program may also be made at Shelby County State Bank in Shelbyville.
