SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Motorcycles and tractors will be featured in a Down Syndrome Association fundraiser on Sunday, June 26.
The third annual People’s Choice Bike Show and antique tractor drive will be held at Middle of Nowhere Cycles on Route 16 in Tower Hill.
“All proceeds will be given to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis in honor of Brooklyn Schutte,” said organizer Lisa Swenny. Brooklyn is the four-year-old daughter of Shelley and the late Brett Schutte of Sigel and is Swenny’s niece.
“Brooklyn was the top fundraiser last year,” Swenney added.
The bike show, tractor drive and auction last year raised $5,000.
“We’re looking to surpass that this year,” Swenney said.
Sign-in for the bike show begins at 10:30 a.m. with a $10 entry fee. People’s Choice voting begins at 11 a.m. and the winner will be announce during the live auction between 2 and 3 p.m.
The antique tractor drive will begin at 9 a.m. with free sign-up starting at 8 a.m.
“I’m not for sure where we will drive yet,” said drive organizer Don Selby. “We will go north or south of Tower Hill depending on road conditions.”
Selby noted that there were 15 tractors in the drive last year.
“You never known how many will show up. We had a nice drive,” Selby said.
Tractors will return to Middle of Nowhere Cycles around noon and will be on display for the afternoon.
For more information about the tractor drive, contact Selby at (217) 827-1932.
The Herrick/Pana Masonic Lodges will be cooking pork loin sandwiches, hot dogs, and polish sausages with chips and refreshments also served for a goodwill donation. Desserts will be sold at the bake sale.
A live auction this year will feature four St. Louis Cardinals tickets for the July 8 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
“We have several businesses from Shelbyville and Pana who donated items and gift certificates,” Swenny said.
Music for the event will be provided by Kerry Campbell and All Kindz of Soundz DJ Service.
